The Madness of March
Every year people begin to watch college basketball in the
month of March. The faithful few have
watched games all season, but most only watch it in March. The reason?
The tournament has drama that even Hollywood can’t even make up. Looking back at the 2016 National
Championship game, the team that won had 2 seconds left to win the game or go
into overtime. With a quick pass and a
quick shot, they won the game.
People enjoy watching the joy on the faces of the unknown
teams that upset the big named teams.
People get emotional to see the young men cry when they lose a close
game. So, why endure all this
madness? It’s simple, because we all
want to believe that we all can go to the dance and get the slipper. We all desire to have our one shining moment
in life. We all want to win when all the
stakes are on the line. Whether it is
in business, education, relationships, or just in life in general, we have all
desired to be the hero.
There are lessons to be learned from these young men in
March. First, take chances. Don’t hold back because of fear. Second, rely on the team of people who
support you. (Some of you may need to build a team of supporters.) Third, trust your coach. Fourth, believe that no matter what the odds
are, you can succeed. Finally, live in
the moment and look to the future and leave the past behind.
No matter what you did all season, all bets are off when it
comes to this tournament. It’s complete
madness. Expect Cinderella to
arrive. She will dance as she upsets the
“Big Dog” team. Expect close games and
last second shots. More importantly,
begin living in the moment and leaving your past behind. You can’t change the past, but you can make
the most of every moment to make sure it shines.
So, enjoy this madness.
Cheer. Cry. Live.
In the end, you can sing, “One Shining Moment.”
